UTAH CHANGES STATE LAW, DESTROYS THOUSANDS OF GALLONS OF BEER
So ok, what the hell, Utah? What’s wrong with you people? Is common sense not something welcome within state lines? I mean, really. Because this is about just that: Common. Sense. Where did it go? Did Utah have any to begin with? Because whatever Utah had, they have a lot less of it today. So what else to they have a lot less of? Beer. Because after a change in state law, the state went and destroyed thousands of gallons of beer in a single day. So surely there must have been something wrong with the beer, right? Nope. So maybe local Mormon squares made the call? Nope. Or, maybe?

STATE LAW OVERRIDES COMMON SENSE IN UTAH, AS PERFECTLY GOOD BEER GOES BYE-BYE
So yeah. It’s a tough call. But what happened to spark this marked malt malfeasance? A simple change in law, allowing higher-alcohol beer. No, really. That’s it! So how did that lead to the destruction of thousands of gallons of perfectly good beer? Well, Utah authorities said the law forced them to do it. Why? Because the new law allowed the destroyed beer to be sold in private stores instead! Yes, that’s it. That’s the reason. But it’s STUPID. That’s where I want to know about where the common sense went. Because it seems to have gone down the drain with $18,000 worth of beer.

And you’re damn right. That’s a lot of perfectly fine beer. Wasted. Because in the old Utah state law, private stores could only sell beer that had up to 4% alcohol. So if the beer had more than that, you could only buy it in Utah state liquor stores. So they simply destroyed what they had on hand! Seriously! The law became official on Halloween. So Utah discounted the beer on hand by up to (sigh) 5%. Since the law also says they can’t stock anything available on the open market, they destroyed what was left!
But don’t you idiots have state fairs? How about functions? Or maybe you’ve heard of donations? No? Okay, fine then. Waste that beer. Let the nation cry.
