CIRCUS ELEPHANT ESCAPES IN BUTTE, MONTANA, TAKES A HILARIOUS RUN THROUGH TOWN
I love it when the circus comes to town. For me, that means I went to a circus once south of the Mason Dixon at an “Expo” location, and a couple times in big cities. They were always fun, and almost everything was too expensive to buy. Or so I was told, anyway. But there was no drama outside of the 3 rings that wasn’t supposed to happen. And considering that the elephant shows were my favorite that’s just as well. But this week in Butte, Montana had a little bit of drama. That’s the only way to describe it when a circus elephant escapes and runs through town.

ELEPHANT WAS STARTLED BY A VEHICLE BACKFIRING, AND TOOK OFF FOR A CURIOUS JAUNT
Fortunately, you don’t even have to imagine this, as there is of course video which you can see below. The female elephant from Jordan World Circus “escaped” from its handlers after a vehicle backfired, startling it. She essentially took off, leaving of her handlers to chase her through town, looking pretty anxious about the whole situation. I can only imagine, as an elephant is a large, strong creature that can be prone to violence when scared or angry. Fortunately, the elephant was eventually calmed and was “captured” to return where it needed to be back at the circus.

ONE HOMEOWNER WAS, HOWEVER, GRACED WITH A LARGE PILE OF ELEPHANT POO ON THE LAWN
But you can imagine what Butte was like, if only briefly. People stopping to stare, point, giggle and obviously pull out their phones to grab pictures and video of what is presumable a unique local event. But at least one homeowner may want to special order a sign for their front yard that says “Please Curb Your Elephant.” Because this circus elephant did just what a dog does after it gets a little gross motor exercise, she went #2 on someone’s yard. All-in-all this is a nice innocent story that just might help drive ticket sales while the circus is in town. Because this week, this lady pachyderm is a local celebrity.
