Older Woman’s Cough From Covid Spills Her Guts Out

OLDER WOMAN’S COVID COUGH LITERALLY EVISCERATED HER, SPILLING HER GUTS OUT

Okay, it seems like I just wrote something similar to this.  I sincerely hope this isn’t a pattern set to emerge with more stories of people popping or spilling their guts out from a hard sneeze or cough.  Because apparently, it’s happened yet again.  This time, an older woman who caught Covid had it manifest in that horrid way with strong, powerful coughs.  But one particular Covid cough literally spilled her guts out.  As in, out.  And yes, she nearly died as a result.  I’m no spring chicken.  But so far it’s pretty clear to me that if I ever have any kind of abdominal surgery, to remember to never sneeze or cough.

HISTORY OF ABDOMINAL SURGERIES LEFT HER VULNERABLE, AND SPILLED GUTS ALMOST KILLED HER

The 52-year-old woman, which honestly doesn’t really qualify as older, had had abdominal surgery 10 years before in effort to treat a hernia.  And I say in effort, as it continued to be a problem for her and needed more procedures afterwards trying to repair it.  In other words, more abdominal surgery.  She was scheduled to go back in for more at the hospital, but caught Covid just 5 days before.  And on the day of, she had a Covid cough strong enough that it literally spilled her guts out.  When she finally reached the hospital, she was in pretty bad shape and needed to be resuscitated.

SOMEHOW, SPILLED GUTS WOMAN WAS ABLE TO GO HOME 6 DAYS AFTER LIFESAVING SURGERY

Somehow, the doctors were able to put her guts back in and closed her up, somehow without any other major complications.  Doctors think this spectacular bad luck is the first ever case of anything related to Covid causing an evisceration (spilling your guts, literally).  But what I find even more fascinating and disturbing is that the doctors who put her spilled guts back in had to do layers of different stitches to close her wound properly.  But the older woman (not even a year older than me, btw), was able to eat again after two days, and was able to go home 6 days after her spilled guts back in surgery.

So take note, all you recent (and maybe even not so recent) post abdominal surgery recipients: don’t cough or sneeze.  Seriously.
