Recent weeks have been fraught with power grabbing maneuvering, with a seasonally rabid press corp. throwing balloons filled with kerosene on the bonfire. I’m talking about the calls for Biden to renounce his re-election bid, of course. Well, and Trump getting shot in the ear at an event. But also the RNC Convention which pretty much ended right as Biden dropped out of the race. In other words, there’s been a lot of far-too-clicked bait and not much else. You know, like policy? But it’s starting to look a lot like Kamala Harris will be the Democratic nominee for President. And all cocaine-fueled speculation aside, it now begs the question: is Trump set to lose the election to a minority woman?

Personally, I more than hope that’s the case. But apparently, Trump’s chances of winning have actually gone down with Biden stepping aside and Harris more than likely getting the nom nod. And for Trump, there’s some real cause for concern, seeing how 3 separate national polls showed Harris winning in the past month. And that’s before Biden made his announcement that he was no longer running. Sure, the polls were within the margin of error, and there’s a lot of time between now and election day. But it doesn’t leave Trump with a whole lot of campaign ammunition to fire at Harris that won’t piss off minorities, women, and most notably, independent voters.

And lest we not fail to mention the most poignant irony: Trump will now be the oldest candidate for president in American history, now that Biden won’t be there to be ever so slightly older. And Biden’s age was pretty much all Trump could lampoon, particularly in creating concerned doubt with independent voters. So what will Trump do? He’ll attach Kamala Harris for being a woman, with dog-whistles and outright race-baiting. And she’s younger. Like, she’s still in her 50’s! Plus, she’s no amateur, and will be the only possible candidate that can make use of the over $90 million in campaign funds from Biden.

It sure seems like karma could be coming around for Trump in November. Here’s to hoping!
