Not Haunted?  Poltergeist House Now On the Market

(PROBABLY?) NOT HAUNTED HOUSE FROM POLTERGEIST HITS THE MARKET IN SIMI VALLEY

It’s been a staggering 43 years since the movie Poltergeist hit theaters, scaring pretty much everybody who saw it.  To be fair, I have to say that I’m still a fan, as the movie not only scared me, it scared my dad who even admitted the fact after he saw it.  That’s how I learned my dad had a childhood thing about clown dolls, and one scene in the film was perfectly designed to wreck his sleep cycle for weeks.  This movie is still there to scare the crap out of the uninitiated, guaranteed.  But unlike in the movie, which shows the total destruction of the family home at the end, the real (not haunted?) house still exists, and it literally just hit the market for sale.

POLTERGEIST HOUSE ISN’T REALLY BUILT ON TOP OF A CEMETERY OR BURIAL GROUND OF ANY KIND

The house is located in Simi Valley, California.  It hasn’t been for sale for nearly 50 years, which means that the current owners made it available as the prime location for the Poltergeist production.  And the house seems like a winner to live in, with 2,373 square feet, 4 bedrooms, 2 and a half baths, and plenty of preserved reminders from one of the scariest movies of the 80’s.  If you’re looking to own a home in Simi Valley, the listed price is a cool $1,174,999.  And if you know a little about the movie Poltergeist, you don’t have to worry; the house isn’t built on an American Indian burial ground, or also above the unsettled graves of an early colonial Christian cult.

43 YEARS LATER, THE HOUSE STILL HAS SOME INTERIORS FANS OF POLTERGEIST WILL RECOGNIZE

It’s certain that the house isn’t exactly in the same interior form as it was in the movie.  But the “formal dining room (that) leads to the infamous kitchen” still looks the same.  And if you’ve seen Poltergeist, you know what scene I’m talking about.  It was so simple, and incredibly startling.  If you have no idea what I’m talking about, you should definitely go see the movie.  And if you’re under 30 years of age, you should really definitely go see this movie.  I promise you’ll wonder why scary movie these days just don’t compare.

You can see the official real estate listing for the house here.
