GREEK WOMAN GETS PRISON TIME FOR STARTING WILDFIRES JUST TO FLIRT WITH FIREFIGHTERS
Meeting people you want to flirt with seems to be a challenge for people from time to time. And just like junior high school, some of those people try to get those flirt opportunities by behaving badly. And by badly, I mean in such a way that it totally defeats the goal. Just like adolescent foolishness. But one thing that could only translate badly in a totally self-defeating way is to start wildfires, plural, in order to be able to flirt with the cute firefighters who show up to put them out. Not a joke! And one 44-year-old Greek woman is now getting prison time for doing just that.
44-YEAR-OLD WOMAN FROM TRIPOLI STARTED TWO WILDFIRES, TWO DAYS IN A ROW
The now convicted Greek woman is from Tripoli, and she got 3 years behind bars after she purposefully started two wildfires on farmland in Kerasitsa, one on August 24th, the other the next day on August 25th. Evidently, one day wasn’t enough to flirt with responding, cute firefighters. Fortunately, the cute firefighters were able to put out the wildfires before they damaged much. Greece has been hard pressed this year with a bad season, and arson to flirt with firefighters not surprisingly wasn’t met with patience; instead 3 years of prison time.
A MALE ARSONIST WHO STARTED 3 WILDFIRES ONLY GOT A SMALL FINE IN COMPARISON?
But oddly, this fire season in Greece has had other cases of intentional arson. And one case in particular is noteworthy in comparison, with a 51-year-old man who was arrested just be being a suspect for setting 3 fires, also on farmland. But lacking a motive like being able to flirt with responding firefighters, the man didn’t get any jail time. Instead, he only got a fine of $1,550! So it’s a little odd to compare the two cases, considering how the man set more wildfires than the lonely woman, and only got a small fine with no prison time at all.
