20 Years Later, Revenge of the Sith Back In Theaters This April

OLDER STAR WARS FANS MIGHT BE DUBIOUS THAT REVENGE OFTHE SITH WILL BE BACK IN THEATERS THIS APRIL

They say that time heals all wounds.  But I’ve never been all too sure about that.  Being old enough to have been seriously disappointed in the second Star Wars trilogy makes me wonder if enough time has passed to heal that particular wound.  Because let’s face it, the second trilogy sucked harder than a black hole.  Maybe even worse than the movie, The Black Hole.  But I’m kind of astonished to find that I’m not even slightly appalled at the news that Revenge of the Sith will be back in theaters this April.  Though I am somewhat appalled that it’s been 20 years since it was originally released.

REVENGE OF THE SITH ON THE BIG SCREEN AGAIN TO CELEBRATE ITS 20TH ANNIVERSARY

But 20 years later, we’ve seen quite the host of other Star Wars productions.  And some of them were pretty darn good, which needs to be said with season 2 of Andor coming out, also in (late) April.  So I’m a little curious to see both, and have some hope that I won’t cringe with bitterness at Revenge of the Sith.  Again, anyway.  And then I’ll have to come to terms with figuring out if I now think that the 3rd Star Wars trilogy was even worse.  That essentially means I’ll have to re-engage my younger nerd self’s disappointment as nostalgia.  Man, it’s weird being an aging Star Wars fan, isn’t it?

IF YOU’RE STILL MAD ABOUT REVENGE OF THE SITH, ANDOR SEASON 2 HITS 3 DAYS EARLIER!

But to be fair, Revenge of the Sith did have some moments, especially that last light sabre duel at the end.  Sure, the fall of Anakin Skywalker didn’t quite (at all) live up to the dramatic moment it should have been.  But it’s pretty clear that it wasn’t Hayden Christenson’s or Ewen McGregor’s fault.  And if you’re a new Star Wars material fan (in other words, younger than me), you might want to have a look at Revenge of the Sith when it hits (still unannounced) theaters on April 25th.  You might really enjoy it, especially as you’ll have already seen at least some of the season 2 of Andor just 3 days earlier.

1 out of 2 as a sure thing isn’t bad, no matter how you use the Force.
