8 OLD LADIES RENTING AN AIRBNB CASTLE WERE ATTACKED ALL NIGHT BY CLOUD OF BATS
I’m someone who hasn’t ever rented any kind of Airbnb. But I know many people who have greatly enjoyed doing just that, all over the United States. It’s an easy way to explore all sorts of locations. And, to be sure, there are some totally exotic Airbnb options out there for people to enjoy. But sometimes, things don’t always go to plan. In fact, sometimes things go sideways to a degree no one could predict. And that was certainly the case for a group of women who rented a Castle in Michigan (of all places) last July. The occasion was to celebrate their 50th high school reunion. But this was more like a scene from Carrie, as they were attacked by a cloud of bats!

THE LADIES WERE CELEBRATING THEIR 50TH HIGH SCHOOL REUNION, BUT AIRBNB LOCATION WAS A DISASTER
The Airbnb home is literally known as “The Castle,” for obvious reasons. But while castles can be spooky and cool, they can also be home to quite a variety of critters who don’t see humans there all the time. And that was certainly the case for these 8 seniors (as in: old; not high school seniors). They had been in the castle for three days when things went upside down. Late that 3rd night, they all awoke to the sound of screeches, and hard to see dark shapes moving near the walls. They had been sleeping in the large turret room at the time. And when they ran to the stairwell to get away, they found it covered in bats.

And more bats kept coming in, down the old lathe walls, through the gaps in the baseboards. And the bats kept moving around, screeching and scurrying and flying and…. attacking these old ladies. We’re talking bats in their hair, flying around everywhere and a fair amount of biting. And if you remember, getting bitten by a bat essentially means you have to get a rabies shot. How’s that for a 50th High School Reunion in a castle? The bat horror night didn’t end until dawn!
While this happened last July, the reason it’s in the news now is because the 8 ladies are suing the Airbnb castle’s owners. They filed only yesterday, the day before Halloween.
