VIDEO OF ANGRY HIPPO ATTACKING, BITING, HOLDING JEEP IN BOTSWANA IS JUST INSANE
If I ever see a hippo, I’m running the other way. And by away, I mean the largest, hardest object I can find between me and the inevitably angry hippo. They are very large, being the 3rd biggest mammal in the world. An adult male can weigh as much as 4,0000 pounds. And as you will see in a video shortly, they can be pretty darn fast on land- though you wouldn’t be able to outswim one, either. And even more notably, a hippo is a territorial and mercurial creature. 3 people found that out the scary way when one suddenly ran up and attacked their parked Jeep in the Okavango Delta in Botswana.

WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHER COUPLE AND DRIVER THOUGHT THEY HAD A PEACEFUL HIPPO TABLEAU
The three people in the Jeep were a driver and 2 wildlife photographers, Bill and Linda Klipp. The couple were on a month-long safari in the Okavango Delta when the sudden and scary attack happened. When they drove up, the soon to be angry hippo was just lounging happily in the shallow water. But as I mentioned before, hippos are territorial and mercurial. In other words, they can kill almost anything they can reach, and they don’t like being near anyone else. And with that size and power, an angry hippo can kill you instantly if it can reach you.

ANGRY HIPPO LITERALLY HELP JEEP IN PLACE AS IT TRIED TO REV AWAY IN REVERSE FOR THREE BITES
And this video captures that reality pretty thoroughly. The hippo didn’t give any warning or time for the offending people to drive away and stop annoying it before it attacked. And when it attacked the Jeep, it literally bit the door, leaving a gaping hope from one of its teeth. But it also shook the Jeep so hard that the people had no chance to even try to get out and escape to the other side. The photographers expected a false charge, which both hippos and elephants tend to do to warn people or other animals away. But this angry hippo went death match in an instant. It wasn’t until after the hippo’s third bite that they were able to move away in reverse!
