THE NAZIS USED HYDROGEN CYANIDE TO KILL, NOW ARIZONA WANTS TO FOR EXECUTE DEATH ROW INMATES
So I’m one of those people who tracks how Nazi Germany history hits the news in a bad way. And by bad way, I mean people are stupid. Like, saying wearing masks is like being Jews in Nazi Germany. That kind of thing. But some have a little more nuance to their stupidity. Like in Arizona, where local conservatives have gone off the local rails to the right (and by right, I mean wrong) in a big way. Now, Arizona officials think it would be a good idea to use pelletized hydrogen cyanide to kill their local death row inmates.

WITH NO OTHER POISONS TO LEGALLY USE, ARIZONA TURNS TO BARBARIC HYDROGEN CYANIDE
So wait a minute, you say. Haven’t we ever used hydrogen cyanide gas to kill, I mean execute, people before? Well, sure. You can even see it in movies. The poor idiot getting the axe goes into an air-tight chamber and freaks out when the gas comes out. Well, ok, it was sort of in the Flash Gordon movie, too. And, it’s also true that a lot of states have totally run out of the poisons they were using to execute people, Arizona among them. So if they want to keep killing these death row convicts legally, they need something to do it with.

THE NAZIS PROVED FOREVER THAT HYDROGEN CYANIDE IS DEADLY, AND ARIZONA NOTICED
But I hazard to guess that there is any more proven method of killing people you can find than hydrogen cyanide. That’s why the Nazis used it, to the tune of over one million people. But for Arizona to look in the Nazi method direction isn’t what one would call good optics. But, to be fair, executions are about nothing but optics. Well, and death. So Arizona has already spent over $2,000 to buy the ingredient they need to make hydrogen cyanide. They’ve also inspected their gas chamber, which hasn’t claimed a life in 22 years. Well, Arizona hasn’t executed anyone since 2014, when a lethal injection went horribly wrong. You know, when it took Joseph Wood two hours and 15 “lethal” injections to die?
