MOHAVE COUNTY, ARIZONA REALIZES OBSESSION WITH HAND COUNTING ALL BALLOTS NOT REALISTIC
Part of me is mystified that we are still talking about MAGA culture. But I suppose that is an emotional reaction on my part, born out of my own denial that such a large swath of Americans can remain so… misled and dense. But MAGA culture is alive and well, which usually means it can endlessly operate with blinders on that refuse to take in any contrary reality. But even that has limits, and I’m happy to relate one poignant example (may there be many more). The deep red MAGA Mohave County in Arizona was obsessed with the idea of hand counting all ballots, the better to supposedly prevent (virtually non-existent) voting fraud.

MOHAVE COUNTY LITERALLY CAN’T AFFORD $1 MILLION COST TO SATISFY MAGA FANTASY
Mohave County drank all the Kool-Aid Trump was serving and more when it came to believing that voting machines didn’t just make mistakes, but that they also flipped elections by design. The believe(d) this so much, they made every effort to insure their elections would be safe (for Republicans) by making people count every ballot by hand. But then… they found out how much that would cost; over a million dollars. The cynic in me wonders how the price reality actually hit home. Hand counting an accurate election isn’t worth a million dollars?

MAGA MOHAVE COUNTY ISN’T ALONE WITH ELECTION DENIAL POLICY, BUT REALITY BITES HARD EVENTUALLY
Well, sure it is. But then you have to realize that this deep red Mohave County, which has an all-Republican Board of Supervisors, is currently operating with an $18-20 million budget deficit. And a cool million is more than Mohave County has in its budget to run elections for the whole year. But don’t worry if you get some enjoyment from MAGA election headlines. Georgia is still on the election denial bandwagon, as are other American states. We’ll just have to wait and see if reality bites hard in those places as well.
