But the drama wasn’t over once the police arrived. The zebra was still trying to get to its owner to attack. Deputies had positioned their charger to block the angry animal but the zebra then, “continued to charge at deputies and fire crews, as well as other members of the victim’s family.” Deputies tried to scare it away with air horns. But the zebra wanted more than a pound of flesh from its owner. As the animal simply wouldn’t stop with its aggression, a deputy had to shoot and kill the exotic pet.

PET ZEBRAS ARE ACTUALLY LEGAL IN SEVERAL STATES, INCLUDING THE STATE OF OHIO
The pet owner was rushed to the hospital for treatment. Early reports said that the man had lost his arm in the attack. But a later update said that doctors were able to “reattach” his arm. Especialy remember that last if you are ever tempted to get a pet zebra. Because a number of states allow you to own a pet zebra, including Ohio. Though it’s worth noting that Ohio does require all exotic animals to be registered with the state’s Department of Agriculture. So why did the pet zebra attack its owner? There were also some female zebras on the property, and it seems to have been trying to protect them. Sad, all around.
