ASSHAT AND MINNESOTA STATE SENATOE STEVE DRAZKOWSKI WANTS TO ERASE HISTORY OF NATIVA AMERICAN GENOCIDE
I’m calling it: Minnesota State Senator Steve Drazkowski (R) is an asshat. It’s a fairly easy determination to make. Some progressives, of which I count myself, would simply see that R in brackets and automatically make that categorization. But I try to keep an open mind, which stays open until an asshat opens their mouth and quickly proves they are one. And Drazkowski settled the issue fairly instantly when he started his bid to erase the history of Native American genocide. Sure, we could quibble about the details. But that’s essentially what he is attempting to do.

ASSHAT WANTS TO BLOCK BILL THAT WOULD TEACH HISTORY OF GENOCIDE TO MINNESOTA KIDS
This is about education of Minnesota children, of course. Republicans are making a strong push across the nation at the state level to remove historic context that makes White Supremacists feel bad about being…. White Supremacists. This certainly seems to be the case here, where the asshat state senator is trying to block bill SF 2442, which aims to teach middle and high school students about the Holocaust and genocides. It seems White Supremacists and White Nationalists want us all to forget the very history that teaches us how to prevent them from repeating that same history.

But in this case the asshat proclaimed himself in a particularly odious manner, by using the “both-side” playbook straight out of Fox News. He tries to muddy the historic water by saying, “You know — and I grew up in Wisconsin, so I’m not a historian of Minnesota, but I do understand that the genocides between the white people and the Indians going back included, kind of several genocides each way.” You see? Classic asshat. It’s hard to have a real conversation about this when you have to begin by insisting that the obvious truths about Native American genocide by settlers mean that only Native Americans were the victims.
