DENTIST IN AUSTRALIA BREAKS QUARANTINE AFTER TRIP TO TREAT PATIENTS, GETS JAIL TIME
So here in the United States, the Covid pandemic leaves you in either of (at least) two places. Either you’re shit scared and take every precaution you can, or you think it’s not real and it’s simply no big deal at all. But if you’re in that second group, you’re a big reason why Covid infection rates are higher than ever, especially in “Red” states. Because the numbers don’t lie and they don’t care what you think. Other places in the world are taking Covid a LOT more seriously. Like Australia. A dentist in Perth just broke her self-quarantine. Why? To treat patients. And now, she gets jail time.

DID THIS DENTIST IN AUSTRALIA HAVE DENIAL, OR DID SHE JUST NOT GIVE A DAMN?
So that appears to be the only way to get people to pay attention. So sure, Australia must also have people with Covid denial. Australia is, of course, the original home to Rupert Murdoch and he still owns a ton of their media share. And yes, I consider Covid denial and right-wing conservative media coverage to be related. But I don’t know that this Australian dentist, Natalia Nairn, reads those rags or has Covid denial. But I do know that she has received the harshest punishment to date in her country for breaking quarantine. Two months. And, a lot of notoriety, because you’re reading this.

DENTIST ONLY TOOK A TRIP IN-COUNTRY, BUT AUSTRALIA HAS STRICT COVID QUARANTINE RULES
Dentist Natalia Nain had only flown across country to visit Canberra last June. But after returning home, she then left home at least 7 times to work at her dental clinic. One those work excursions, she treated 41 patients. So did she get a warning to stop first? Of course she did. Pert Police visited her before at least one of her work quarantine violations. The dentist told the judge at her hearing that she was “feeling fine.” So she didn’t think she needed to self-quarantine. But the judge thought that was “staggeringly naive or at the very least irrelevant.” Nairn finally pled guilty got received a 7 month jail term, with the court suspending 5 months.
And that, folks, is how you manage the pandemic to protect everyone. There have to be consequences for putting people at risk.
