CARDI B ENDS UP EATING FOOT IN MOUTH AFTER SHE THANKS DECEASED ROCKER TOM PETTY
Ok, look. I like Cardi B. I think she’s nuts. But I really do like her. She’s interesting. So interesting. She speaks her mind, a lot. Plus, there’s a lot of personality under all that work she’s had done. But Cardi B stuck her foot in her mouth, pretty much all the way up to her ankles. She might even be chewing on her calves over this gaffe. But what a gaffe it is. So here it is: Cardi B, rightly won big at the Grammys this year. And, as is usually the case, a lot of people stepped up to offer her congratulations. But then Cardi B did what she’s supposed to do: she thanked a lot of those well-wishers. So what’s the problem? She thanked Tom Petty for sending her flowers. Tom Petty, as you know and Cardi B clearly does not, is dead.

“TOM PETTY” SENT CARDI B FLOWERS OF CONGRATULATION FOR GRAMMYS SUCCESS
Ok, sure. People make mistakes. But this is a big public one and she made it on Instagram. Her post is no longer “live” as it were. Someone did the good deed and deleted it. But Cardi B had posted, “Thank you Tom Petty for the flowers.” She also thanked him for the “beautiful note” too. Oopsie. But maybe the confusion stemmed (flowers, right?) because the arrangement came with a lyric from the Petty song which read, “You’ve got a big heart. So big it could crush this town.” His name was, of course, under the lyrics.

The trouble is that Tom Petty didn’t die like a few weeks ago. He didn’t even die in the year 2018. He died in the year 2017, the year that stole so many amazing career artists who we weren’t really ready to say goodbye to. So sure, maybe Cardi B didn’t have much cause to know Tom Petty the cultural icon. They had slightly different creative circles, after all. So what happened here? Some people think it’s sabotage. As in, maybe someone like Chris Brown or Nicki Minaj sent her the flowers and card to get Cardi B to screw herself, publicly.
