US COAST GUARD CAUGHT A NARCO SUB, 4 SMUGGLERS AND 6 TONS OF COCAINE
So much for the War on Drugs being won. Or over. But this news is a total feather in the cap for the US Coast Guard. Crew members of their cutter, The Valiant, made an astonishing bust in early September. They caught a narco sub. Ok, that sounds a little weird. A narco sub is a narcotics submarine that smugglers use to get their drugs into the United States, and so to market. But this narco sub is now in custody. It was carrying 12,000 pounds of cocaine! In street value, that means more than $165 million. So this is one epic bust.

NARCO SUB WAS SO UNSTABLE, THE COAST GUARD ONLY OFFLOADED HALF A TON OF COKE
Traffickers made this narco sub out of some oil or gas drilling barge, maybe a platform. It’s not a safe vessel. It stays afloat only supported by underwater pontoons. So if you’re on something like this, get life insurance and set your affairs in order. The Valiant coordinated with “Columbian Naval Assets” to find and intercept the narco sub. They then commandeered the vessel, and took the four smugglers on board into custody. They managed to remove half a ton of cocaine from the narco sub. But they had to leave the rest on board. They just couldn’t trust the vessel to stay afloat to get the rest of the cocaine.

COAST GUARD HAVING HUGE SUCESS SO FAR THIS MONTH ALONE, LET’S HOPE FOR MORE
So this is a major success for the US Coast Guard, the crew of the Cutter Valiant, and a win in the war on drug smuggling. But I’d like to imagine the scene just a little bit. A Coast Guardsman had to leap onto this narco sub while it was still chugging along. That happened. But he doesn’t know if those aboard will shoot. That takes some serious gumption. But then imagine these poor sods in the narco sub. It doesn’t sound like they had good odds of even getting to shore in that thing. I sure hope they get good Dental working for the cartels. But I doubt it. It’s enough stress to give you a nosebleed.
