AFTER TWO YEARS IN A COMA, WEST VIRGINIA WOMAN WOKE UP AND NAMED BROTHER AS ATTACKER
Comas are mysterious things. I can’t imagine waking up and finding that not only have I lost time, but I’ve lost years. Well, I guess I did just imagine it. But this story is captivating just as much as it is disturbing. Because 51-year-old Wanda Palmer was found by police in an upright position on her couch at home near Cottageville, West Virginia, in a pool of her own blood. Someone had attacked her with an axe or hatchet and left her for dead. The tableau was so harrowing that police thought she was, in fact, dead. But they realized she was barely breathing and still alive. That was two years ago. She’s been in a coma since. But she just woke up and named her brother as her attacker.

HER BROTHER ATTACKED HER IN 2020 WITH A MACHETE OR AXE AND LEFT HER FOR DEAD
The attack took place in June, 2020. A witness at the time reported that they saw her brother, Daniel on her porch at about midnight the evening before police discovered her barely alive. But there was no other evidence tying him to the scene or the attack, like phone records, camera footage or any other eyewitnesses. Police of course investigated, but didn’t have enough to file charges against the loving brother. But Wanda woke up recently from her coma, which is a miracle both for her and for justice. And police quickly heard when she was able to speak to them.

And by speak, I mean she was able to answer yes or no to questions. But police were able to understand that her brother was the one who attacked her with a hatchet or axe and left her for dead. They have arrested charged the 55-year-old attempted fratricide with attempted murder and malicious wounding. The court assessed him with a $500,000 bond. So far, there’s no word how he has pled or who his attorney is. But don’t fret, as Wanda continues to recover from her 2-year coma, she is now totally coherent and could soon be able to have full and normal conversations.
I can only imagine how damning her testimony will be.
