COURTNEY LOVE SAYS NO THANKS TO OPIOID CRISIS PROFITEERS, SACKLER FAMILY
Wowza. Courtney Love is back in the news. But that’s not a bad thing, these days. If you need some reminding, Courtney Love is a reformed former junkie. Her husband, Curt Cobain from the band Nirvana, blew his own head off with a shotgun while high on heroin. So Courtney knows a thing or fifty when it comes to the impact, tragedy and trials of drug use. So she just might have an opinion about the opioid crisis. Here’s how it’s playing out today. Courtney turned down $100,000 and 24k gold trimmed dress to attend a fashion event in New York City. Why? The event is for LBV Care of Joss Sackler, the heiress of Purdue Pharma.

LOVE DECLINES $100,000 AND 24K GOLD TRIMMED DRESS, JOSS SACKLER’S RUNWAY EVENT
So what’s the big deal? Well, Purdue Pharma was and is a producer of OxyContin. Yup, that’s right. Purdue Pharma made big, big money on the Opioid Crisis. And Courtney Love has decided to keep what’s left of her soul intact and not take, not quite literally, drug money. So she won’t be attending the runway event at Bowery Terrace for LBV Care during Fashion Week, watching Joss Sackler’s latest tote bags and statement bracelets bandy by. And she won’t be wearing the 24k gold trimmed “phoenix dress” (the collection’s theme). Courtney told media, “a fashion line with 24-carat gold thread won’t ever cover up or wash away the stains on Joss Sackler and her family.”

LBV CARE SAYS WE’RE NOT RELATED TO PHARMA, BUT JOSS SACKLER IS WHO SHE IS
See? Courtney’s got some opinions about addictive drugs and the people who made their fortunes wrecking people’s lives. LBV Care’s reps say, perhaps totally fairly, that, “The brand has no relation to Purdue … other than Joss is married to the family.” Well, sure. That may be true. But association is, well, association. And Courtney ain’t having it, saying, “I am one of the most famous reformed junkies on the planet — my husband died on heroin — What is it about me that says to Joss Sackler, ’I will sell out to you?’ Well I won’t.”
I think I’m with you on this one, Courtney. But I don’t dig fashion shows anyway.
