CRAZY THINGS PEOPLE IN A RETAIL SHOP THINK ABOUT AT WORK
What do people who work in retail think about as they watch you mill about the store? I can tell you! Because I just became a sales associate and now I feel like I know things.
I have been shopping all my life. I grew up in Los Angeles in the 90s and early 2000s, which means that there was nothing to do on the weekends except get driven to a mall and walk around. We would go into ALL of the stores and sidle up to ANY kiosk. We were mall people and we liked it. But I never knew what those sales people thought of us UNTIL NOW. I have recently become employed at a pretty popular store, and I am excited to say that retail people have LOTS OF CRAZY THOUGHTS. And here are some of them:

A SALES EMPLOYEE MAY BE LOOKING AT YOU, BUT THEY’RE NOT THINKING ABOUT YOU!
So, whenever you think sales associates are thinking about you and crazy things. They are not. They are worrying about themselves. And making sure they are being un-creepy, friendly-but-not-too-friendly, friends/stylists. It’s hard work, especially when you have beautiful clothes staring at you in the face all day long. It’s honestly hard to think about anything else other than when you can next try on something new that you might want to buy.
