Is your name lucky? Or are you just lucky? For one man in North Carolina, both are true. His full name is Mekhi Alante Lucky. Lucky is a criminal and got busted for speeding while driving a stolen vehicle. But his mugshot that night went viral and landed him a spot with St. Claire Modeling as soon as they saw it. So now Lucky is a career model, under contract.
CRIMINAL MISCREANT SCORES OPPORTUNITY FROM ARREST
Lucky got busted in Raleigh, North Carolina for speeding in a stolen car. Police charged him with possession of a stolen vehicle as well as attempting to elude arrest. That means he was running from cops, which is normally a bad idea. Cops don’t like it if you run. Unofficially, they tend to make this clear in various ways when they catch you. So, don’t steal a car. Then don’t go speeding in the car. Better yet, don’t try to evade police in said stolen, speeding car.
Unless you’re lucky like Lucky. Like really, really lucky.
LUCKY “PRISON BAE” HAS STRIKING EYES FOR MEDIA
The 20-year-old Lucky has a rare genetic condition called heterochromia. That’s geek speak for Lucky has eyes that are different colors. In his case, this appeared to be striking in his mugshot from the night of his arrest. That’s pretty much what landed him his spot in the modeling world. But it seems to be that the industry likes the bad boys who get discovered as pretty diamonds in the rough. A few years ago, a man named Jeremy Meeks got a modeling contract while in prison on weapons and gang charges. A criminal now has a pretty path to success.

But Lucky is lucky to be out and about at all, if his record is any indicator. Between April and December 2016 Lucky was arrested for assault, breaking and entering, resisting police as well as two misdemeanor parole violations. But his speeding in a stolen car proved to be his best arrest, with a pic that landed him a new career. The agency didn’t hesitate to sign him once they saw the popular pic.

“I instantly knew that he was perfect for St. Claire Modeling,” said the agency’s manager, Damiana O’Bryant. Lucky quickly had enough fans to get the nickname, “Prison Bae.” So far, it’s too early to tell what kind of success he’ll have. But if his predecessor is any indicator, Lucky’s future is his to embrace. Meeks has had a successful career around the globe for a few years now. He’s even now dating the billionaire heiress, Chloe Green.
