MAN TAKING CULT CITY TOUR UNDER ARREST FOR USING LASER POINTER ON SCIENTOLOGY CAMERAS
So first off, there’s a place you can take a tour with the title, Cult City Tour. That’s pretty damn wild. It’s in Clearwater, Florida. I don’t know how many cults are local to the town. But Scientology is on the tour’s list. So sure, you can call me a Scientology skeptic. But I’m on the outside. My life is complicated enough. But speaking of the outside, one man also not in the cult is under arrest for shenanigans. He took the Cult City tour, you see. But then he took a laser pointer and zapped a bunch of security cameras at a Scientology property.

SCIENTOLOGY CAMERAS HAVE PERMANENT DAMAGE, OFFICIALS SEND FOOTAGE TO LOCAL POLICE
So as you can imagine, that’s kind of a big no-no. Laser pointers hitting camera lenses totally damage the cameras. I would hazard a guess that is destruction of property. But it seems there are a LOT of cameras all over the Clearwater downtown area. And yes, they are Scientology’s. And while we don’t know why yet, one Cult City tour attendee had a problem with that. 76-year-old Robert Harris decided to take his laser pointer and do some damage. Like, literal damage. The cameras he hit have permanent black dots from laser burns done by Harris.

BUT WHY DOES THE CURCH OF SCIENTOLOGY HAVE SO MANY CAMERAS IN CLEARWATER, FLORIDA?
So why does the Church of Scientology have such a large presence in Clearwater, Florida? Well, you’d really have to ask the local officials. Supposedly it’s to help revitalize the downtown area. Those same local officials are none too happy with the laser vandalism or the Cult City Tour, saying they could impact this revitalization. But why so many Scientology surveillance cameras? There are enough that they had footage of Harris in the act with his laser pointer, go into a restaurant, and even get in his car.
So take note, you are always on someone’s cameras in any city, anywhere. But in Clearwater, you’ll be on the Church of Scientology’s. It’s kind of weird.
