CANADA COUPLE DIVORCE FIGHT OVER HOCKEY TICKETS
Canadians love them some hockey. Well, there are just a few Americans who love them some hockey too. But so far, we haven’t heard of epic divorce battles that center over hockey tickets. Well, to be fair, this is a story about season tickets. So maybe the battle between Beverly and Donald McLeod is understandable? The two ended their 35-year marriage but couldn’t settle who would end up with their Edmonton Oilers season tickets. Eventually, the two had to agree to shared custody of their season tickets! This divorce ends with a hat trick.
OILERS FANS LOST LOVE FOR EACH OTHER, NOT SEASON TIX
The two separated some time ago but shared a history together as Oilers fans. In fact, the Oilers seems to be all that the two had in common at the end. But their shared love became a bitter fight that took forever to resolve. Donald even went so far as to agree to pay his wife $15,000 a month in spousal support. But that didn’t include giving away or sharing the Oilers season tickets.

WIFE ASKS FOR JOINT CUSTODY OF TIX AND WINS
So his wife estranged wife Beverly filed in court asking for joint custody of the tickets. Amazingly, she won! “The parties shall alternate choices for game tickets with the defendant choosing first the game for which he wants tickets, the plaintiff choosing second for her game, and the parties alternating choices thereafter until all regular season tickets have been assigned,” according to the record from the ruling of Justice Ritu Khullar.
REST OF WORLD LOOKS ON AMUSED AT PUCKY ANTICS
No one is sure what metric to use in measuring hockey passion or hockey fans. But Edmonton Oilers fans are considered to be pretty passionate by the rest of the league’s fans. But that makes Oilers season tickets hard to come by. Rangers fans won’t comment on the pricing as New York is completely insane. But fans who have season tickets love their seats. They also never part with them. So that makes the divorce battle somewhat understandable, if somewhat amusing.
DIVORCE ENDS, BUT OILERS LOVE IS FOREVER
But this does beg the question, is it Hockey that makes this story? Is it the Oilers? Is it Canadians? Or is it just the first time this kind of dirty divorce laundry has been public in court? In any event, Donald and Beverly better stay on the same page about which weekend is what. They may share the seats, but never games!
