DILDO APP RECORDS 6-MINUTE SESSION OF USER, STORED FILE ON PHONE
News we should have said would be obvious is now realized, with reports that yet another piece of personal technology is hackable and has been hacked. And by personal, we do mean personal. Think of one of those personal massagers, aka your favorite dildo, that is programmable with a lot of two-way data streams that is controlled –ostensibly by you- via an app on your phone. Then think of what it might be like to discover that the app from your favorite dildo that controls the piece of personal tech that you use both on and in your body, has been hacked. But not to worry, this app only records things like very sound you make when using the vibrator. So if you like your phone secretly recording you when you masturbate, this is for you.
VIBRATOR COMPANY CALLS RECORDINGS “MINOR BUG,” BUT ISSUES FIX
The personalized and now known to be hackable vibrator is made by a Hong-Kong based toy company called Lovesense, the app that makes it vulnerable called the Lovesense Remote. The outing of the hackable vibrator app came to light when a Reddit user posted that Lovesense Remote records sessions of the vibrator’s use, but without their having chosen to record it and without their knowledge during the session. A 6-minute audio file of the session was stored in a local folder in the app itself. The user posted that they gave the app access to both the mic and the camera, but that was to enable a chat function in the app to send recorded clips on a voice command. But the app made a constant full audio records of the, ahem, solo interlude. Once posted, other Lovesense users reported they saw the same disturbing behavior in the app as well.

DOES DONALD TRUMP HAVE A FAVORITE DILDO? DOES RUSSIA HAVE THE RECORDINGS?
So, if you’re not quite getting it yet. This app on your phone can make video and audio recordings of you in situ, as it were. To say that is not cool doesn’t quite explain the huge issues at, um, play. But not to worry! A Reddit user who claims to represent Lovesense responded to the disturbed revelations and simply called the recording(s) a “minor bug” that only is an issue for personalized dildo users who have Android. They also said that no personal personal information, such as a video or audio recording of a user’s dildo session, was sent to company servers. Supposedly that audio file that wasn’t supposed to be is also only in existence temporarily.
Lovesense did do more than the basic public sweet-nothing reassurances, however. They released an updated patch for the app the same day. So, customized dildo users can breathe a sigh of relief, one way or the other. Whatever floats your boat.
