INTERNAL DOCUMENT SHOWS FEDERAL EXPRESS HAS SECRET CONTRACT WITH THE NRA
Remember how a bunch of companies cut their ties to the NRA after the latest mass school shooting? Well, now we know why Federal Express was not on that list. But we also know that they won’t be anytime soon. More than twenty some odd companies felt the publicity heat and chose to cut their business relationship with the NRA. It was a direct result of the 17 deaths at the high school in Parkland, Florida. So why isn’t Fedex doing the same? A confidential company document explains why. Fedex has an exclusive deal with the NRA to ship gun purchases. It’s a secret contract.

Fedex publicly tried to distance themselves from the NRA. In a public statement they said they disagree with a lot of the NRA’s policy positions. But they offer a special discount to the NRA’s business alliance. The statement said, “FedEx has never provided any donation or sponsorship to the NRA which is one of hundreds of alliance and association participants that serve more than one million customers.” In a follow up statement Fedex even tried to confuse people with a bait and switch. They tried to divert attention to UPS, which ships merchandise from the NRA’s online store.

So how do we know the reality? The secret internal document was leaked to ThinkProgress by a Fedex employee. They asked to remain anonymous to avoid retribution and lose their job. The internal document is quite damning. It shows how Fedex has, in secret, agreed to bend their own rules on gun shipments on a sweetheart deal that makes them a lot of money. That includes all major gun manufacturers as well as the NRA itself. That means that Fedex wants to make money by helping to put dangerous guns in anyone’s hands. Remember, many mass shootings were committed using guns that were bought, and perhaps shipped, legally.
