10 ISRAELI SOLDIERS COMMITTED GANG RAPE AND SEXUAL TORTURE OF PALESTINIAN PRISONERS
We know a lot about whatever the headlines are that involve Israel being attacked, and its subsequent and inevitably justifiable disproportionate military responses. Then we know more about what American politicians feel about what happened, and the cycle of violence continues, apace with the annexation of Palestinian lands. But we aren’t hearing too much about Israeli violence towards Palestinians that’s not justified, and is more than enough to qualify as a horror anywhere. Yet somehow, most Americans probably don’t know about how Israeli soldiers committed gang rape and sexual torture of Palestinian prisoners at the Sde Teiman detention center. The racial and political issues are manifest here, and this story only gets more disturbing from there.

GANG RAPE AND SEXUAL TORTURE BECAME OFFICIAL KNOWLEDGE AFTER ONE INJURED PRISONER’S TRANSFER
The issue of gang rape and sexual torture came to light after one Palestinian prisoner was transferred to the Soroka Medical facility in Beersheba who had severe injuries to his sexual organs. This discovery led to Israeli military police (MPs) raiding the detention center on Monday to detain 9 soldiers there for gang rape and sexual torture of their Palestinian prisoners. A tenth suspect was not apprehended yet. All ten soldiers suspected of these crimes of racial and political horror are member of the Force 100 unit, which has the duty to act as prison guards at Sde Teiman detention center.

But it gets even more disturbing to learn that when the MPs raided the detention center, they had to fight the soldiers assigned there to get in and detain 9 of the 10 suspects. And then, a rightwing mob that included member of Israeli parliament from the Likud and Religious Zionist and Jewish Power blocs tried several times storm the gates of the detention center, eventually succeeding by breaching the military barricades. The mob chanted all the while its support for the torture of Palestinian prisoners and calling for their summary execution. Then, the same mob tried to storm the Beit Lid military base, attempting to free the 9 soldiers accused of gang rape and the sexual torture of their charges.
The tenth suspect is now AWOL and eluding capture to date. This story will make waves across the world. Will that include America?
