The awards season has officially begun. The red carpet at the 2015 Golden Globes Awards was indeed a confirmation that celebrities are warming up for more upcoming events. Still, so many misses pretending to be hits.
Silver, red (again) and white were definitely the dominant colors. Although, I must confess I continue to have headaches thinking about Amal Clooney’s oversized white gloves; she sure missed Jackie Onassis’ lessons about it. George was elegant and polished, and so were most of the gentlemen — Michael Keaton never looked so good.
Sienna Miller, Jennifer Lopez and Jessica Chastain were among the many actresses who were fiercely competing in the low-cut dress category, but they were all blown away by the glorious Kate Hudson and her skintight Versace dress. It is always a delightful surprise when you see stars cleaning up their act and looking absolutely well-put-together on the red carpet after so many disastrous and hilarious past fashion attempts. Lorde, in a custom pants ensemble by Narciso Rodriquez, and Lena Dunham, in a red Zac Posen, both looked so beautiful … for a change. One of the big scares of the night was Lana Del Rey and her turquoise pleated gown. So awful it doesn’t deserve even a nomination for worst dressed.
Hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler did what they do best: being funny from start to end. They made me forget how hungry-looking Giuliana Rancic appeared on camera. I was afraid that at some point she would start eating the microphone and not even noticing it.
THE BEST DRESSED
1. Julianne Moore in Givenchy
A true fashion winner.
2. Allison Williams in Armani Prive
A delicate and handmade stunning dress.
3. Jessica Chastain in Atelier Versace
How can one not stare?
4. Diane Kruger in Emilia Wickstead
This is absolute perfection.
5. Emma Stone in Lanvin
Bold, beautiful and chic — and she is my favorite.
THE WORST DRESSED
1. Rosamund Pike in Vera Wang
The new ambassador of “The X Factor.”
2. Jennifer Aniston in Saint Laurent
You can spend $1 million on her, and she will still look ordinary.
3. Kerry Washington in Mary Katrantzou
And why would you wear a paper doll dress?
4. Sienna Miller in Miu Miu
When in doubt, turn your housedress into a plunge neck gown and go conquer the world.
5. Keira Knightley in Chanel
That’s when you realize that you are no longer one of Karl’s favorite girls.
