BIG EGO, SMALL HANDS, POINTS GUN AT MARTIAL ARTS TEACHER
And yet again we return to Florida, where a little-known story will make readers everywhere shake their heads in dismay. At an open day dedicated for prospective students at the Grace Christian Academy in Port St. Lucie, one gun-nut parent thought it would be a good idea to have an opinion and stress it by pulling a gun and making a point by pointing the loaded weapon at a martial arts teacher. This isn’t the sort of casual choice that can be ignored, despite what anyone thinks about gun regulations in the United States.
STAND-YOUR-GROUND LAW MAKES ANY GUN PLAY POTENTIALLY LETHAL
The school’s martial arts instructor, Christopher Lasala was presenting an information session about the after-school class he would be teaching to students this year when he related his belief that he didn’t believe that guns were the best option for people to use for self-defense as most people are actually easily disarmed. The parent, gun-nut, George Meyer, felt that that remark couldn’t go unchallenged and so thought it best to tell him that “martial arts are crap,” walked closer to the teacher and pulled his .32-caliber Beretta and said, “bang, you’re dead.”

Lasala simply replied that he wasn’t dead, leaving the gun-nut to dig the hole deeper and say, “No, you’re dead. My gun is locked and loaded.” The teacher made the smart move like trained fighters tend to and left the room to let the parent cool down. The parent eventually replaced his gun in its carry holster and left as well. But the parent’s brilliance was not yet over. George Meyers was, of course, arrested for his actions in that room. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill. He also faces quite a number of other gun related charges. He ended up in St. Lucie County Jail and was released after he posted his bond.
But Meyers felt the need to return to the school the same day he was released, forcing the school into lock down and the police to respond, yet again. He faces arrest should he return again, this time for trespassing charges.
