HARRY WHITTINGTON, THE MAN DICK CHENEY SHOT WHILE HUNTING IN 2006, HAS PASSED AWAY AT AGE 95
It’s amazing to me that anyone born in the year 2006 would already be 17 years old, and likely not have any clue who Harry Whittington is. To be fair, I almost didn’t recognize his name, as he hasn’t been in the news for years in any real sense. Until two days ago, of course, when he passed away at his home in Austin, Texas, at the age of 95. But kids these days simply weren’t around to be aware of the incredibly strange occurrence in 2006, when then Vice President Dick Cheney shot Whittington with a shotgun blast while hunting quail at a private ranch in Texas.

NO ONE KNEW CHENEY SHOT HARRINGTON UNTIL A DAY LATER, WHEN LOCAL MEDIA WERE CALLED
Any ”kids” reading this might get a little verklempt reading this, “Wait, what!? The Vice President shot his friend with a shotgun? How did that happen? How could that possibly happen?” And they’d be right to be shocked at this little tidbit from recent American history. But there are many, many other questions that make the event even more shocking. First off, no one knew the shooting even happened until the next day, when the ranch owner called local papers. Secondly, local police didn’t interview Cheney about the incident until many hours after the shooting. Was Cheney drinking while taking heart meds at the time? We’ll never know.

And the 3rd thing I’ll mention is how Whittington apologized to Cheney and his family upon his release from the hospital, saying he was “deeply sorry for everything” Cheney and his family had to deal with after the incident. Yes kids, a then 78 year old shooting victim, and activist power player go-to lawyer for the Republican Party in Texas, apologized to the man who shot him with a shotgun as soon as he got out of the hospital. While I don’t doubt that the shooting all those years ago was an accident, several something fishies still stink to high heaven today.
But regardless, Texas Republican lawyer strongman Harry Whittington, the man whose friend- then Vice President of the United States Dick Cheney- shot him while hunting 17 years ago, has passed away this week. He took his many, many, secrets with him to the grave.
