MARS MINI CHOPPER INGENUITY WILL FLY WITH PIECE OF FIRST WRIGHT BROTHERS PLANE
So as you know, there is a whole lot of attention on the planet Mars of late. Including mine, that’s for sure. Besides yet another rover, the current mission hardware includes a little, mini chopper. As in, a little helicopter drone vehicle. That’s right, we will be flying on Mars, not just falling down its light gravity and then driving around the hard, uneven terrain. The mini chopper has the name Ingenuity, which suits. And sometime in April, 2021, Ingenuity will take its first flight on Mars. And by its first flight, I mean by anything made by man, like ever. Even more? It will carry a small piece of the Wright Brothers first airplane along with it.

INGENUITY THE MINI CHOPPER WILL BE THE FIRST FLIGHT ON MARS, EVER, BY HUMANS
Wait, what? You don’t know who the Wright Brothers are? The folks who first built and then successfully flew an airplane? It’s just huge history for all of us. You know, if God intended us to fly (as He did) he would have given us the brains to design airplanes? Well, He did. And the Wright Brothers were the first of any of us to go all the way. But I am absolutely certain they never thought a small piece of their sweet, flying victory airplane would ever be on another planet. Even one in our very same solar system! And they would have been just as astounded at the design of the mini chopper, Ingenuity.

BUT NO, THE INGENUITY WILL STILL COME IN 3RD PLACE, CARRYING A PIECE OF WRIGHT BROS PLANE INTO SPACE?!?
So how did this happen? Well, NASA of course. NASA reached out to the folks at Carillon Historical Park in Dayton, Ohio (the Wright Brothers’ hometown) and asked them for a small piece of their airplane to send into orbit, across the solar system, down to Mars, to fly around on the mini chopper, Ingenuity. As you might hazard a guess, Carillon Historical Park totally obliged. They gave NASA a piece of fabric about the size of a mailing stamp. But alas, the mini chopper isn’t even the first man made vehicle to carry a small piece of the Wright Brothers planes! It’s so in 3rd place, behind Apollo 11 with Neil Armstrong in 1969, and aboard the space shuttle Discovery, in 1998.
