APPLE FORGETS TO COPYRIGHT STEVE JOBS NAME, OOPS!
Ok, this is kind of brilliant. Some people like to poke the giant in the eye and get away with it. But two Italian brothers made that their entire brand concept. And this time, the giant is Apple. Vinzenzo and Giacomo Barbato just won a legal victory over Apple, according to la Republica Napoli. They named their clothing and accessory company after Apples founder, Steve Jobs. A court just confirmed they have the rights to use the name. So yes, you can buy Steve Jobs Jeans, among a lot of other things.
ITALIAN BROTHERS SEIZE OPPORTUNITY, AND OWN STEVE JOBS NAME
This story started in 2012 when the Italian brothers realized that Apple never bothered to trademark the name, Steve Jobs. The Barbatos were starting their own clothing and accessories company after years of experience developing products for other brands. They knew the name “Steve Jobs” would be a winner for their new brand and company.

APPLE SHOOTS SELF IN OTHER FOOT, LOSES RIGHTS COMPLETELY
Goliath, or Apple as it is called, filed a motion against the Italian brothers. They tried to stop the Barbato’s trademark of the Apple founder’s name with the European Union Intellectual Property Office. But the best part about this story is how the Mac people screwed themselves with their own motion. Yes, I said that. Apple’s motion was over the brothers design for their Steve Jobs logo, which was a designed letter “J” with a bite mark on one side, topped with what looks like an Apple designed leaf. But the court ruled that since the letter “J” isn’t an edible icon, the bite couldn’t be an infringement on Apple’s own logo. So the Barbato’s own their Steve Jobs trademark as well as the symbol!
STEVE JOBS JEANS, EVEN STEVE JOBS PHONES, COMING SOON
So if you like Apple, there are some interesting products coming soon for you. But if you hate Apple, there are also some interesting products coming soon for you. These will include things like Steve Jobs bags, t-shirts, jeans and a ton of accessories. But to make the waters murkier, the Barbato brothers say their newly certified brand rights will also release some electronics products as well. So let’s all get ready to make some popcorn! There will be a fight if iPhones are sold in stores sitting next to “Steve Jobs” phones. Like I said above, this is kind of brilliant.
