THE SCIENTIST CONSULTANT FOR JURASSIC WORLD SAYS WE’LL BRING BACK DINOSAURS IN MAYBE 5 YEARS
So we all know about the crazy successful dinosaur movies that began with the first installment, Jurassic Park. But the paleontologist who consulted for the latest film, Jurassic World, says we could really bring dinosaurs back to life in only 5 years. No, really. This shit is happening and it’s happening soon. The famous paleontologist is Dr. Jack Horner. He was a consultant on all four blockbuster dinosaur movies. So if you somehow don’t know, the premise is that scientists engineer dinosaurs from their genetic material found in mosquitos trapped in amber. But there were gaps those fictional scientists had to fill in.

But now that science fiction is soon to be science reality, according to Dr. Horner. But not to worry, scientists won’t start with something as insane as the Indominus Rex. They will likely start far, far smaller. Think chicken size. Actually, think chicken, period. But that’s because genetic science has changed a lot in the last 2 decades. So Dr. Horner is thinking of a new tactic, reverse evolution. So the idea is you start with a chicken (and not the egg!). But why? Well, because your favorite fried food holds the prehistoric genetic markers of all its ancestors, including dinosaurs.

So Dr. Horner’s idea is that we manipulate those markers and activate them, mutating the chicken back into one of its ancestors. But hell yeah, that is some scary stuff. Dr. Horner said, “Of course birds are dinosaurs, so we just need to fix them so they look a little more like a dinosaur.” But this process has already started. Researchers at Harvard and Yale already had some success. They reversed a bird’s head back into a dinosaur snout. Scared yet? Not. So how about this. With this idea, we can reverse engineer ourselves and see what a Neanderthal really looked like.
