AIR FORCE LOSES CASE OF GRENADE LAUNCHER GRENADES IN NORTH DAKOTA
Say whaaaat? The expression “it fell off the truck” is a metaphor for a great price on something that “fell off a truck.” But stuff isn’t supposed to actually fall off a truck! And that’s especially true if it’s a military truck. What could go wrong? Well, a lot as it happened. If you were having a walk two weeks ago down a side road around Mountrail County, North Dakota, you may have found some stuff just sitting on the wayside. What kind of stuff? How about MK19 automatic grenade launcher munitions. Yup, that’s right! A case of explosive launchable grenades fell off a truck. So there is a case of missing military grenades somewhere in North Dakota.

TRANSPORT DOOR POPPED OPEN AND GRENADES “FELL OFF THE TRUCK”
The US Air Force is still trying to hunt down the missing military grenades. They were meant to be used somewhere besides sitting in the middle of the road. So what happened? The 91st Missile Wing Security Forces out of Minot Air Force Base lost a host of the explosive ordinance as they were being transported between different ICBM sites. Military personnel have obviously searched pretty much everywhere. But the grenades have eluded collection. The back hatch of the transport vehicle simply popped open and these poppers just fell out. The transport had no idea until they reached their destination.
GRENADES STILL MISSING AFTER MASSIVE SEARCH ON THE GROUND
The search began on May 11th. Over 100 service members searched along the six-mile route where the grenades fell off the truck. But according to the Mountrail County Sheriff, the grenades are still missing. The Air Force really wants them back. So much so that they are now offering a $5,000 reward for the whole batch, no questions asked. That’s pretty chincy. Compare that to when the Japanese police offered $1,250 for each illegal grenade anyone tipped them off to. Whoever found these Air Force Grenades likely knows they are worth just a bit more.

But if you found them don’t mess with these puppies. They are explosive launchable grenades! If someone were to, say, use anything besides a MK 19 automatic grenade launcher, these things would likely blow up in your face. That being said, you don’t want a military grenade blow up in your face. There’s also the fact that these aren’t legal to have in civilian possession. If someone knows you have them, they won’t knock on your door…. You’ll wake up with an assault team in your face. So maybe just make that call and get the reward?
