Two of my favorite things came together this past weekend. Page Six and Neil Patrick Harris.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock somewhere, you know that NeilPat (I’m starting that now) has launched a Broadway revival of the irreverent rock opera “Hedwig and the Angry Inch.” According to the New York Post’s infamous gossip column, during a recent performance a starstruck fan, unable to contain herself any longer, shouted out, “I love you, Neil!”
To which he replied from the stage, “I’m doing something up here, motherf*%ker!”
Well played, Doogie.
This sort of thing, “stage rage” as the British press dubbed it, is increasingly common, as audience members take cell phone calls or feel it appropriate, as Neil’s tormentor did, to interact with the actors on stage.
