Old Fart, Woman Accomplice Busted for Stealing Massive Lego Heists

OLD FART, YOUNGER LADY ACCOMPLICE BUSTED WITH OVER 2,800 LEGO KITS FROM HEISTS

I loved making Lego kits as a kid.  And to be completely honest, I still love the idea of them today.  A friend who knows this gave me the kit for the Upside Down (from Stranger Things), but I’m still waiting for the next and last season to loaf a ton of time making it.  And I’m not alone, as Lego kits are hot sellers for all ages, and Lego the company is making sure there are kits tempting for a person of any age to covet and eventually buy.  But that popularity makes them a hot item on the black market, which is made pretty clear with an old fart and his younger woman accomplice getting busted for major (MAJOR) Lego heists.

UNPRECEDENTED LEGO THIEVES GOT A LITTLE TOO CASUAL WITH REPEAT LEGO HEISTS

So how major is major?  Well, it’s hard to know at this point just how many Lego kits they’ve stolen (and sold) during their crime spree.  But when police raided 71-year-old Richard Siegel’s house in Los Angeles, they recovered more than 2,800 boxes of Lego kits.  That’s pretty major.  Police also managed to arrest the old fart accomplice, the 39-year-old Blanca Gudino.  Apparently, Gudino raided shops all over.  Police had her under surveillance after one retailer she stole from multiple times pointed her out to them.  They then watched her take the stolen Lego kits to Siegel’s home, making a search warrant pretty darn easy to get.

AUTHORITIES PRESUME OLD FART WAS SELLING HOT LEGO KITS ONLINE, STORY COULD BE EVEN BIGGER

And considering the sheer volume of all these Lego kits, each of them had varying market value, as low as $20 to over $1,000.  Again, that’s each.  If all of the recovered kits were only worth twenty bucks, their value would still be over $56,000.  Legos are hot.  But these were hot.  So far, authorities are resuming that Siegel was selling these stolen Lego kits online.  That won’t be too hard for them to figure out, and will possibly expand the range of charges beyond organized retail theft, and his accomplice’s grand theft.  Hopefully, Victor Wembanyama didn’t buy his Millennium Falcon kit from them with his first paycheck…
