CRUEL BURLINGTON POLICE STAGE FAKE SCHOOL SHOOTER, TERRIFY STUDENTS
Sometimes, people have bad ideas. Everyone has them, to varying degrees. It goes to the old saying, “Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.” But that is so analog, and today’s bad ideas don’t seem to stop at the drawing board like they used to. A possible penultimate example of this is the police in Burlington, Vermont, who thought it was a fantastic idea to stage a school shooter scenario. And, of course, these authoritarian “serve and protect” idiots that they are, they didn’t warn anyone, and made sure to terrify the students. This is NOT a joke. It happened.

SCHOOL SHOOTER SUDDENLY APPEARED IN CLASSROOM AND SHOT BLANKS AT STUDENTS
In the realized scenario, a man suddenly appeared in a classroom and opened fire on the terrified students there. Fortunately, the Burlington police didn’t use live rounds; the gunfire was simulated. Apparently, these cops thought it was a great idea to “teach” these kids what they needed to know about a school shooter situation, by traumatizing them for life, making them think they were going to die. For some reason, these kids’ parents were wicked pissed over this bad idea made reality. In response, the Burlington Police Department issued a not-really apology that included the line of how they were sorry for anyone “who were upset by the specific scenario and crime scene portion of the presentation.”

So to recap, the Burlington Police thought it was a grand and necessary idea to prepare school kids for the terror of a school shooter by terrifying them with a school shooter. Full stop. If I was a parent, I’d want blood. Perhaps it would be a great idea to “educate” various officers with the Burlington Police Department with staged kidnappings, where they wake up in a fake prison, naked and tied up, with an apple stuck in their mouths. You know, like a full-pig dinner presentation. That way, the Burlington police would have the emotional training under their belt to never break the law and be a pig in jail.
And as for the kids in this classroom with the fake school shooter, they only figured out that it wasn’t real when the cops in the room (oh, yeah, police were there for a “presentation,” didn’t I say?) did nothing to stop the fake shooter. These kids do need a better education and training if they think these cops would do anything to stop a real one.
