WAYS THAT NORTH DAKOTA COULD AVOID RACIST VOTER SUPPRESSION
The northern half of the Dakotas is already beginning voter suppression by casting requirements that prevent Native Americans from voting in the midterms. There are plenty of ways the state could avoid doing this. Voter suppression is the scary, sad tradition of our country that was built on slavery with rich men’s laws. In the 2004 election, Ohio wasn’t allowed to even get into their polling booths. In the 2016 election, a likable candidate in the primaries had votes lost. And now North Dakota has already announced that they are requiring addresses on Driver’s Licenses – a requirement not stipulated by the constitution. And yes, this is racist. Again.

This is something that most Native Americans on reservations don’t have, and thus it’s actively keeping them from casting their vote. This could be avoided in many ways.
DON’T REQUIRE ABSURD CHANGES TO LICENSES
The listing of an address makes sense on licenses. It allows for easy identification and categorization of citizens in the country. However, it’s not necessary in order to vote. Nothing is necessary in order to vote other than being a citizen of the United States and being of legal voting age. It might make sense for one to verify that they are indeed in their respective county, but this could easily be done by having people register to vote before the election. Wait, we already do that!

RICH WHITE MEN ARE JUST SCARED OF LOSING THEIR PRIVILEGED JOBS
Think about who this benefits other than the rich men scared of losing their jobs. So there is absolutely no benefit to anyone other than the Republicans. If all willing citizens vote, they will clearly lose their positions in the House of Representatives. This is what it’s been about for years. But somehow it’s all so worse now.
But seriously, don’t make this change. We need to to better, all across the country.
Wow, it seems like this really isn’t a difficult change to make in reality. Weird. But unfortunately this change has already been made in the state. So if you’re a Native American without an address on their license, then go here to make the change. Seriously, this is important stuff. But I know, everyone is saying so. But it’s true.
