RIHANNA POSTS TRIBUTE TO FAN AND FRIEND WHO LOST BATTLE WITH CANCER
So Rihanna isn’t just gorgeous and talented. But man, is she ever. So the “Diamonds” hit star recently let everyone know that she is heartbroken from the loss of Monia, who passed away from cancer over Christmas week. Monia had been a member of the Rihanna Navy, what Rihanna calls her big fans. But Monia had fought off cancer twice before, only to pass away last week after a third and final battle with the disease. So it’s really nice for us all to know that a star like Rihanna is so emotionally connected to her fans. But it’s too bad it’s with the loss of Monia. Rihanna posted a tribute to let everyone know.

RIHANNA SHOWS US ALL HOW TO BE A STAR AND A FRIEND TO ALL
So Rihanna posted on Istagram, “Navy Angels! This Christmas, we lost a beautiful spirit who was such a pillar of strength to us! Most of our friendship she’s spent in a hospital or doctor’s office! This picture was just a few months ago, she looked at me and said ‘Rih the cancer is back’ I’ll never forget the fear in her eyes this day!” But then the post continued, “Still she pushed forward, fighting the fight every day with the Navy behind her supporting her every step of the way! We are all heartbroken about this!!! You will never be forgotten! Love you my angel @moniasto fly in peace.” Rihanna is the kind of star who deserves fans. And friends!

RIHANNA GETS IT, UNDERSTANDS THAT COMMUNITY IS OURS TO CREATE AND SUPPORT
So you see, Rihanna had been supporting Monia for some time during her battle with cancer. She wrote regular posts on Instagram letting her know she wasn’t alone. They met earlier this year in June at the Savage X Fenty Pop-Up. Some of those supporting posts read, “Sis we are all praying for you! Your strength and your ability to let the beauty in your spirit shine through, even in the midst of adversity, is tremendously inspiring!!” Another, “I can’t begin to imagine what you feel, so I want you to know we are all here for you and I encourage the NAVY to rally around you during these times! Love you!!” So her tribute comes as no surprise.
So you see? Rihanna gets it. We need more people like her around in general. But we definitely need more stars to show their light in dark skies as well. And these are dark skies overhead now. Let’s all remember to make some light for each other. Happy New Year!
