IT’S BEEN 28 LONG YEARS SINCE 28 DAYS LATER, AND NOW WE’RE SET FOR A TRUE SEQUEL: 28 YEARS LATER!
It’s hard to believe it’s been 21 years since 28 Days Later hit theaters and scared the hell out of a lot of people. If you haven’t seen it, take a look as it stars the now famous and accomplished Cillian Murphy. We had another installment in 2007 titled 28 Weeks Later. That was also pretty scary, and was enough to keep the imagination churning about what might happen next in this zombie infested world. Except… we didn’t get more to further rivet and disturb us. Till now, that is. While the math doesn’t line up, I’m still pretty excited to know we’re finally getting the sequel we need: 28 Years Later.

DIRECTOR DANNY BOYLE AND WRITER ALEX GARLAND BACK IN THE SADDLE FOR 28 YEARS LATER
What could be better? Quite a lot, actually. Both the original director Danny Boyle and original writer Alex Garland are back in their primary roles for the new production, though they had nothing to do with 28 Weeks Later. Want more better? The rumor is that 28 Years Later could be the first of a whole trilogy of sequels. If zombies already ate your brains, that means this new movie is only the first of 3 more to come! The only caveat is that this is still early stages yet, though the buzz is certain to sting potential buyers to get these made and released to an eager public.

28 YEARS LATER SLATED TO BE A TRILOGY OF SEPARATE FILMS, BUT WHO WILL STARI THEM?
Boyle won an Oscar for Best Director for 2008’s Slumdog Millionaire (which also won Best Picture). And Garland? He made Ex Machina, Annihilation, and the upcoming Civil War. So we’re talking about folks who are even better now at what they do. So the expectations for me are already high for what we may get to enjoy very soon. We know each of three 28 years Later sequels are slated for budgets of $75 million each. But we don’t know if Cillian Murphy’s Jim, Naomie Harris’ Selena, Megan Burns’ Hannah characters will make returns to the roles that helped launched their careers.
