So, when anyone gets a boob job, a face lift or a tummy tuck (among many other simple procedures common everywhere), smoking could prove disastrous. Essentially when you smoke, the pieces of your body that most need good blood flow to heal actually get cut off from blood and oxygen.

News of this threat is getting around thanks to Dr. Anthony Youn, who posted his concerns on his blog. He described his experience when he treated a patient who had lost her nipples after she had smoked before her breast surgery. “In my memoir In Stitches,” he wrote, “I told the story of a smoker whose nipples turned purple while undergoing a breast lift surgery. Purple is the precursor to black. Black is the precursor to falling off.”

NO BLOOD MEANS NO LIFE FOR NIPPLES
When blood flow is reduced or stopped from getting to, say, your nipples, your nipples die. Your nipples are still attached to you, but they still die. They first turns purple and then black. The last step is that your nipples falls off. Nipples are pretty, tender bits. But nipples without a blood supply don’t do well. Smokers’ bodies in particular aren’t strong enough in terms of circulation to prevent things like your nipples turning black and falling off.

All that you would know is a sense of numbness, then no nipples, ever again.

But there is still hope for treatment. Some approaches might save your nipples. Dr. Youn is one doctor who uses leech therapy. Other doctors might instead surgically take your nipples off and then “reconstruct the area” themselves. Leeches suck out the clotted blood and inject a vasodilator, which opens up and improves blood flow.

So, don’t smoke before you get a boob job. And, don’t smoke after you get a boob job. Seriously, don’t smoke. The only way to save your nipples is to go all medieval and let leeches suck on them. And that’s not a knock-knock joke. Leeches sucking on your nipples is the best way to go. Otherwise you just might lose your pointer sisters.
