SOUTHERN JUDGE GOES ON RANT IN HEARING WITH BLACK MURDER SUSPECT
About a week ago a southern judge said some angry things that are pretty harsh. But some may find them controversial, even objectionable. The judge has said similar things in the past. But this time the word is spreading a lot more. This happened at a hearing for a black man, Vincent Bryan Merriweather. Merriweather is accused killing another black man, Antorius Gallion. But at the hearing, Montgomery County Judge Wayne Shelton made some impassioned comments. They included how black men were killing each other better than the KKK was able to. So that could be why this is going a little viral online.

Judge Shelton said that the disregard for human life that he keeps seeing was too much. He’s “sick of it,” he exclaimed. But especially how young black men shoot at each other for little to no reason at all. The judge continued, “I grew up in a time where people wore white robes and they shot at black people. And now we see young black men wearing black hoodies shooting at black men—and doing much more effective job than the Klan ever thought about doing.” It’s hard to say that he doesn’t have a point. But is that ok for a judge to say?

In this case Merriweather is in court for murdering Gallion back in November. Somehow, Meriweather shot Gallion in the head while he was driving his car. Both were in separate cars with other people in the cars as well. So what happened? Well, before the shooting an argument started at a middle school game and two men’s feet evidently touched each other. That resulted in an argument. But then it continued on to murder. So the judge may have a point. Some are saying his comments are racist. But the head of the local NAACP said that the judge’s comments were “on point.”
