PATRICK STEWART WANTS TO REPRISE HIS ROLE AS PICARD IN ONE LAST, FINAL STAR TREK MOVIE
The first time I saw Patrick Stewart was in the classic movie, Excalibur. Then I remember seeing him in the now finally able to watch on Netflix, Dune. So I wasn’t too terribly surprised just a few less years later when he appeared for the first time on Star Trek: The Next Generation as Jean-Luc Picard. Captain, of course, of the starship Enterprise. And that last role has lasted for literally decades, with Season 3 of Picard now in the books, the series done. But Patrick wants one more movie -or one more Star Trek movie to be precise- where he can get one last run as El Capitan. But will this ever happen?

STEWART WANTS ONE LAST BIG SCREEN SENDOFF FOR THE WHOLE NEXT GENERATION CAST
Well, maybe? If you’re already a fan, you already know that Picard Season 3 brought back all the major stars from The Next Generation, and neatly made fans of the show hungry for more. But no one more than Patrick Stewart, who wants to make one more feature film for The Next Generation stars to strut their Federation bonafides one more time and go out in style, on the big screen. But whether Paramount Pictures is willing to make this happen, is anyone’s guess. Currently, Paramount is consolidating its Star Trek slate, which means politics, creative differences, and a whole lot of cooks cutting the onion as to where they want to take the franchise next.

BUT WILL PARAMOUNT HONOR THE LAST PICARD REQUEST FOR PATRICK STEWART? TIME WILL TELL
So maybe this will happen. Or maybe we’ll just end up with whatever the next TV series installment will be, a la Star Trek: Legacy. But one thing’s for sure; Star Trek is still a more than functioning media gold mine. And there is still clearly a market for the old farts (especially Seven of Nine) getting into costume and showing us where they want to take their characters, if only all together one more time. I’m certainly game, being a fan of Patrick Stewart and the rest of the Next Generation cast. Maybe we could even see Wesley Crusher back in the fold, to wave goodbye with them all?
