SINGLE CAT LADY TAYLOR SWIFT ENDORSED KAMALA HARRIS, AND 400,000 PEOPLE IMMEDIATELY VISITED VOTE.GOV
I don’t really follow pop star news all that much, except by accidental circumstance. And yes, social media, and the reporting of social media events, makes it harder to not have exposure to pop star news. So I know more about Taylor Swift than I really care to. But then again, I’m not a tweener girl, either. Or, I should say, a fan of the NFL team her boyfriend plays for. Suffice to say Taylor Swift has MAJOR social media clout in the way of followers across the world, and especially the United States. So I really shouldn’t be surprised to hear that right after the pop star endorsed Kamala Harris for president, that vote.gov got a surge of over 400,000 to register to vote.

HAS THERE EVER BEEN A CELEBRITY IMPACT ON VOTER REGISTRATION LIKE TAYLOR SWIFT’S?
Now that’s some serious social media power, more than I’ve seen in quite a while, or ever. In less than one day after the endorsement, 405,999 people visIted vote.gov using the very same link Swift used in her Instagram post for Harris. For comparison, that is over 13 times the number of people who visit the site on any given day in the week before. And on another voter registration site vote.org, over 144,000 people logged in within two days after the Swift endorsement to check their voter registration status. This is star power used to a degree we’ve never really seen before.

SWIFT HOLDS INCREDIBLE SWAY OVER 25 AND UNDER AGES, AND MANY OF THEM WILL LISTEN TO HER AT THE POLLS
But that star power is evidently just what the Republicans were afraid of, having taken aim at swift in recent weeks because of their concern of this exact kind of impact. Well, to be fair, no one really say this kind of impact as a possibility. But now it’s real. So why did Swift finally choose to issue a formal endorsement of Harris? According to her, several things, including how there was a fake AI-generated endorsement of her for Trump, JD Vance’s insulting comments about single women, and her sense that there is a need to restore women’s reproductive rights.
Seeing as how a third of people under 25 have said they plan to vote for whoever Taylor Swift recommends, this story is only beginning.
