I’ve always wanted to go to Hawaii. Shoot, I’ve always wanted to live in Hawaii, without evern having been there. And if I had the opportunity to travel there at the last minute, I’d probably jump at the chance. But those chances are slim, and I’d be jealous of anyone who was able to. Well, except for 2 German teen girls who ended up in jail because they engaged in the now-suspicious, “last minute travel.” Sure, it was from a different country. But since when do two girls from Germany, aged 18 and 19 years, get thrown into jail just for arriving in paradise?

Well, since now, apparently. The two girls had already explored Thailand and New Zealand. But they made a strategic mistake in visiting Donald Trump’s America if they expected anything but suspicion, strip searches, handcuffs and then prison uniforms for their stay in jail. Usually, tv shows make it clear that when you arrive in Hawaii, you get leis (the garland of flowers as necklace). But it’s clear that tv shows need to catch up so crazy kids like these poor German teen girls know what’s in store for them.

The two girls Charlotte Pohl and Maria Lepère had a hard time of it, given how instead of beaches, they spent their trip to Hawaiian paradise sleeping on mattresses full of mold in a freezing cell, and spent the rest of their time with literal criminals. So what did American authorities find so suspicious to jail them like this? It’s all because of spontaneous, or last-minute travel. If only the two German teen girls needed to book their 5-week stay in advance. That is, if they wanted to spend it on the beach.
And no, there was no other reason. Why is it that tourism to the U.S. has dropped? And why is it we can expect that to get a lot worse?
