TENNESSEE GOP GOES MEDIEVAL PATRIARCHY, WANTS TO ELIMINATE AGE REQUIREMENT FOR MARRIAGE
So I may have to look up the definition of the word hypocrisy, because the official definition may be an understatement after this news coming out of Tennessee. Why? Oh, nothing much, other than the fact that the Tennessee GOP has introduced a bill to eliminate the age requirement for marriage. No, that’s pretty much real! For some reason, being the age of 17 isn’t young enough for Republicans in the state to let kids get married. You may be familiar with kids these days, those days and all days. There’s a reason that we have age requirements for drinking alcohol, voting, driving and, of course getting married.

USUALLY, AMERICANS THINK LETTING UNDERAGE KIDS GET MARRIED IS CHILD ABUSE
Because kids are kids! They can be impulsive and lack the experience to make good decisions. Sure, that is certainly true of plenty of adults, too. And the adults in the Tennessee GOP all fall into that category with this political stupidity. I mean, really. We’re going to talk from our civilized high horse when we hear about child brides in other places in the world? We’re going to talk about how it’s child abuse? Really? Because letting kids get married at ANY age seems to be a bit… disturbing. Disgusting, really. But that’s the Tennessee GOP in the year 2022.

So why am I talking about hypocrisy? Didn’t you see any of the questions the GOP posed to Kenji Jackson as the Supreme Court Nominee? You know, asking her over and over again how she could be so lenient to pedophiles? Knowing, of course, that the direct and tacit accusations that Democrats are really a party that secretly engages in child trafficking? And don’t believe for a minute that the Tennessee GOP didn’t get the memo. Yet they have still introduced a bill making it legal for kids of any age to get married.
If Tennessee isn’t careful, they’ll have their very own Sharia Law in the state soon. With another name, of course.
