SOME TEXAS ASSHAT MURDERED 600,000 BEES, TORCHES THEM WITH TOTAL MALICE
So color me totally outraged about this story. Bees are essential for the world. That’s really not too much of an understatement. But they’ve been dying in really alarming numbers in recent years. It’s become such an issue, pretty much everyone who knows anything about biology are freaking out. But this isn’t a new concern. Even Einstein, years ago, said that bees are essential to the world over. But for some reason, some Texas asshat goes and torches two dozen bee colonies in Alvin, Texas? But they murdered 600,000 bees! So why would anyone do that?

WHAT POSSIBLE MOTIVE COULD ANYONE HAVE TO DO THIS?
So this happened about a week ago. The colonies belonged to the Brazoria County Bees Association. They torched the two dozen colonies. But then they also went and tossed several of the bee boxes into a pond at the site. It’s really kind of astounding to think about. So sure, pointless violence and vandalism is nothing new, anywhere. But why do something so…. dastardly? Why the hate? So did they get stung by a bee and wanted revenge? But I can pretty much say with all authority that the perpetrator isn’t allergic to bees. That would be begging for death. So why?

But for now, that answer remains totally inscrutable. The Beekeepers Association and the local police have offered rewards for any information that might lead to an arrest and conviction. The beekeeper supplier, Steve Brackman, said, “It takes a long time to establish a colony. It can take a year to get a full one, but the queens were probably killed, which means those that survived have nowhere to go.” Some people are calling this ecoterrorism. I can hardly argue with that assessment. Bees are already struggling to survive. Insecticides and herbicides have been decimating all over the world. We need bees for our crops to survive!
