Am I one of the very few people who thinks that after the second hour of watching the Grammy Awards, the show starts to drag since an avalanche of ballads puts you on a sleepy mood, and not even the fashion factor can save it anymore? Thank God for the red carpet fashion arrivals because thats all that stayed with me
The biggest trend at the 2015 Grammys was, for sure, the cutout dresses. From Iggy Azalea in Armani Privé and Chrissy Teigen in Pucci to Miley Cyrus in Alexandre Vauthier and Ariana Grande in Versace, they all exposed body parts with perfect skin. Even Giuliana Rancic got into the trend with her ensemble by Inbal Dror; she also carried two other bigger trends of the night: pantsuits and sheer fabrics.
In the sheer category, Jessie J in Ralph & Russo and Meghan Trainor in Galia Lahav looked absolutely marvelous and playful, while Beyoncé took it to the high-fashion level with her stunning and seriously sexy dress by Proenza Schlouer.
Hands down, Usher is my best pick for the best-dressed man, and Ne-Yo looked quite sharp in Marc Jacobs, and so did Hozier in Armani, even with all that hair. Prince can do whatever he wants, including wearing orange and toting a cane. The rest of the pack was just pure mess, from Nick Jonas in Versace to Jane Lynch. Yes, I meant Jane Mess Lynch.
BEST DRESSED
1. Nicki Minaj in Tom Ford
When you clean up good, this is how you should look.
2. Gwen Stefani in Versace
One of the best looks of Grammy night, fun without being silly and fashion-forward. Perfection from the hair and makeup to her pointed shoes.
3. Annie Lennox (designer unknown at press time)
She put a spell on us on the red carpet and on the stage. Elegant and simple, but never boring.
4. Jane Fonda in Balmain
A combination of self-confidence, wealth, body, a young mind and great taste. Again, Jane Fonda took a risk, and she looked sensational.
5. Rihanna in Giambattista Valli
A perfect match between confidence and the right attitude, Rihanna wore this giant puffy dress like a true fashion icon.
WORST DRESSED
1. Katharine McPhee in Pucci
From the hair to the accessories and dress color, what a waste of a beautiful body and face.
2. Helen Lasichanh in Adidas
I know you are supporting your husband Pharrell Williams’ clothing line, but darling, not everything in the world should be a money opportunity especially when you have enough to make you happy. You end up looking so unhappy.
3. Kim Kardashian in Jean Paul Gaultier
Too big, too long, too heavy, too ugly, too much
4. Taylor Swift in Elie Saab
She spends the whole award season looking phenomenal, and then she steps out on a debutant mullet dress for the Grammys. Though it had a beautiful top, that bottom needs to be shaken off and away.
5. Madonna in Givenchy
When I hear the name Madonna, I expect the new and fresh. This idea has been done … by herself back in 1994. At 56, you look sensational, Madonna, so please bring the new so that you can really take a bow.
