MAN DROWNING IN LAKE GEORGE SAVED BY PRIESTS ON DRY, FLOATING TIKI BAR
So I know a lot of people who’ve been to Lake George. It’s supposed to be a blast, one of those classic summer escapes. Maybe I’ll try a visit myself some time. But I hope to avoid anything like this happening to me. But for an Albany man, Jimmy MacDonald, he had a scary time and almost lost his life. He was out kayaking with his family which sounds like great fun. But he got into taking a lot of pictures and became distracted from his surroundings. So when he realized he was alone, he tried to get back to them. But the water was a little rough, he tipped over and lost his paddle. He was about to drown when priests on a floating Tiki Bar saved his life!

TIKI BAR ARRIVED JUST IN TIME AS PROUD MAN REFUSED TO CALL FOR HELP ALMOST TOO LONG
So Lake George is big. But it’s not so big that there weren’t a lot of other people nearby in kayaks and canoes of their own. But Jimmy, oh, Jimmy, he didn’t call out for help. Why? Well, his pride, is why. He had been an amateur boxer and just couldn’t do it. So there he was, in a life jacket that didn’t fit, holding onto his capsized kayak with one hand, and his brand new phone in the other. And, he was losing energy fast. And the water was 30 feet deep. I don’t know if you know, but trying to flip over a capsized kayak with one hand is pretty much impossible. But then, there were priests on a Tiki Bar.

PRIESTS ON RETREAT ON “DRY FOR A DAY” TIKI BAR SAVED ADDICTION COUNSELOR JUST IN TIME
So just as he was totally exhausted and sinking into his too loose life jacket, there was an open bar. Well, a bar in the open, anyway. He thought he was just about done and started praying. The captain of the floating Tiki Bar first saw a paddle floating in the water. Then, someone on board head someone cry for help. And there was Jimmy, barely staying above water. But they got to him in time and pulled him aboard. Well, the priests from the Paulist Fathers pulled him out. The Paulist Fathers is a Catholic retreat on Lake George.
But even more interesting and random? Jimmy used to be an addict and works as an addiction counselor. Even he thinks it’s pretty funny he was saved by a floating bar. Well, a dry bar that day. Um, on a lake.
