WHY IS THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION CONSIDERING A FEDERAL BAN ON VAPING PRODUCTS?
So ok, where to begin with this story? You’ve heard of vaping. Vaping is the new big thing, especially to deliver nicotine and THC. So in other words, people vape instead of smoking cigarettes or marijuana. Vaping is convenient. Vaping is just that, water vapor and not smoke. But for people who smoke, it’s a seemingly better way to either kick the smoking habit, or to live a healthier life with the addiction. But recently, there’s been a lot of news about the dangers of vaping as it relates to a bunch of cases of lung disease. And I do mean a lot of coverage. So much coverage, in fact, that perfect strangers feel totally comfy walking up to people vaping and telling them how bad it is for them. But is it? And now the Trump Admin is considering a federal ban? What?

But that’s just the thing. We don’t know. But the Trump Administration is considering jumping into the fray. Why? It turns out that the people getting lung disease have been vaping off market (as in not legal) THC oils. So that means they’re not commercial products and no one is overseeing their safety. But there are now hundreds of articles talking about the “dangers of vaping.” But why? They all seem to mention at the very end of each piece that there are questions. My favorite line included, “but smoking is much more dangerous to your health.” Oh, ok! But no one is talking about banning cigarettes. So why is that?

But to even ask that question is to answer it. Big Tobacco. You know, the industry that knowingly sold “nicotine delivery systems” to consumers, while denying that they were selling addictive products that pretty much kill said consumers. But vaping is totally dangerous? The Trump Administration is considering a federal ban? So sure, vaping product makers are indeed competing with Big Tobacco. Notable giants like Juul in particular have been doing all sorts of questionable things to gt their products in front of kids. And yes, there are vaping flavors like Cotton Candy and Strawberry. Sure, kids would pretty much love that stuff.

But let’s be real, folks. This is about money. This is about Big Tobacco. Sure, the long term effects of vaping are an open question. But the same can’t be said for cigarettes. So is Trump making some deals before November, 2020? Cause you can bet your damn voting American ass that he doesn’t care about your health. But now that I think about it, the misinformation about vaping just might have some parallels to the misinformation that helped get Donald Trump elected in 2016. Just sayin’.
