Trumpers Say Debate Conspiracy: Kamala’s Earrings Were Microphones

TRUMPERS CRY FOUL, CLAIM KAMALA’S DEBATE EARRINGS WERE REALLY MICROPHONES

No matter how large the rock is that you live under, you are aware that there was just a debate between Presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. So you also know that the ripple effect from said debate is become waves which are already having quite an impact on how people are talking about the two candidates. Kamala stayed cool and baited Trump; Trump swallowed the bait and ranted incoherently. And in this case, incoherently also includes all the patent falsehoods Trump was fact-checked on during the debate. Essentially, it was a good look for Harris and a bad look for Trump. So naturally, Trumpers are bellowing “conspiracy!” that Kamala totally cheated and her earrings were really microphones giving her prompts.

I’d like to say I’m not surprised at the foolishness of the accusation. Yet somehow I am, regardless. Clearly, Trumpers are deafened by their own echo chamber, by their own voices in fact. But they clearly don’t seem to understand how such a ridiculous accusation reeks of sudden desperation. It’s actually a change of brand to go of a sudden expand the playbook of the usual; misogyny, patriarchy, xenophobia, racism to also include a desperate claim of, “she cheated to make him look bad!” Because, of course, how else could an accomplished politician and former District Attorney like Kamala Harris win a debate against the likes of Trump? Earrings as microphones!

I mean, really. One pro-Trump X account “tweeted” the claim on X while the debate was still happening. For some reason, that post was viewed over 5 million times less than a day later. Trump, of course, is going on the make up you own reality push by claiming it was his “best debate ever.” But really, microphone earrings? Yet many Trumpers are sure to eagerly believe it, if only to keep the sand firmly around their heads. But it leaves me hoping that there will be another debate, and I’ll get to follow up with a fashion breakdown that starts expansively with Harris’s choice of earrings.
