FIRMLY IN PUBLIC DOMAIN, WINNIE THE POOH HORRO MOVIE BLOOD AND HONEY ON THE WAY
So before we get into this, I have to explain that I don’t like Winnie the Pooh. I liked the book when I was really young. But the animated Pooh was so boring to me I couldn’t even read the books anymore. That being said, I’m excited at the news that there is a Winnie the Pooh horror movie coming out. And no, this has nothing to do with the original artist, their estate or relations. Obviously! But we do get to enjoy the idea of this art because the Pooh icon is now firmly in the public domain.

WINNIE THE POOH WILL NEVER BE THE SAME, BUT IT COULD SPELL MORE FUN ON THE WAY
But this new horror movie is sure to create a hungry trend for what the future could bring. Blood and Honey may well be truly awful. But the novelty of it will surely make it more enjoyable to me as an adult than the awful animation from my youth. I’m geared to like it, just because it exists. While that’s a far cry from a Siskel & Ebert two thumbs up, I stand by it! Winnie the Pooh will never be the same, that’s for sure. But just think of what may come, and none too soon.

IN COMING YEARS, POOH HORROR COULD PAVE THE WAY FOR MORE ALTERNATIVE CREATIVITY
Superman will enter the public domain in just 12 years! And there are a host of others, superheroes, cartoon characters and more. But I can’t help but wonder at some of the could have beens, like all else from the early Disney years. We could have had a Mickey Mouse horror movie! Or, even more salacious, a Mickey & Minnie porn movie! Sure, I’m scraping the bottom of the creative barrel there. But you get the idea. Satire, check. Comedy, check. Horror, double check. Twisted little imaginations (not mine!) are surely already at work. But first up on this menu of reinterpretation is Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey.
